무엇인가
USAJMO는 미국수학협회(MAA)가 주관하는 초청제 증명형 수학 시험이다. USAMO의 주니어 부문이고, AMC 10 경로로 올라온 저학년(보통 10학년 이하)을 대상으로 한다. 이틀에 걸쳐 6문항을 푼다. 답만 적으면 안 되고 증명을 처음부터 끝까지 써야 한다. 초청은 AMC 10과 AIME 점수를 합친 지표로 정해진다. 계산은 USAJMO Index = AMC 10 점수 + 20 × AIME 점수다. 이 지표가 높은 자격 학생부터 초청장이 간다.

입시에서의 의미
임팩트 티어 1이다. 수학 분야에서 가장 좁은 문 중 하나인 초청제 올림피아드다. AMC와 AIME를 통과하고 그 위 증명형 시험까지 올라간 소수만 초청받는다. 그래서 수학적 깊이와 증명 실력을 보여주는 강한 신호로 읽힌다. 다만 이건 신호일 뿐이다. 성적 하나로 특정 대학 합격이 따라오진 않는다.

What it is
USAJMO is an invitation-only, proof-based math exam run by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA). It's the junior division of the USAMO, aimed at younger students (usually 10th grade and below) who come up the AMC 10 track. Six problems, two days. You don't just write the answer. You write the full proof. Invitations run off a combined AMC 10 and AIME index, computed as USAJMO Index = AMC 10 score + 20 × AIME score, and they go to the highest-scoring eligible students.
For Korean students
Participation comes with conditions. USAJMO is a staged path. You take the AMC 10 first, score high enough to get invited to the AIME, then clear the cutoff on the combined AMC 10 and AIME index to earn the invitation. Why it matters for admissions
This sits at impact tier 1, one of the narrowest doors in math. It's an invitation-only olympiad that only a small number reach, because you have to clear the AMC and AIME and then go on to a proof-based exam above them. That makes it a strong signal of mathematical depth and proof-writing ability. But it's a signal, not a ticket. One result doesn't bring a specific admissions outcome with it.
How is USAJMO different from USAMO?
USAJMO is the junior division of the USAMO. USAMO mostly draws top scorers off the AMC 12 track, while USAJMO draws younger students (usually 10th grade and below) off the AMC 10 track. Both are six-problem, two-day proof-based exams.
